Targeted Industries

Nevada is home to a diverse industrial base made up of printing companies, envelope production, agricultural and automotive equipment manufacturing, food processing, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and bio industries.

Advanced Manufacturing thrives in Nevada with quality trained workforce.

Bio based Companies are supported by:

  • Iowa Energy Center’s Biomass Energy Conversion, (BECON) facility, providing pilot scale processing and conversion from biomass, is located in Nevada’s West Industrial Park
  • Iowa State University, Plant Sciences Institute, located ten miles from Nevada
  • Lincolnway Energy Ethanol Facility, one of the most productive and profitable locally-owned ethanol facilities in the nation is located in Nevada
  • Story County agricultural, considered one of the most fertile and productive agricultural land in the State of Iowa. Potential for biomass within a thirty-mile radius of Nevada is attractive to bio industries.

Renewable Energy from Wind

  • HZ WindPower, an Asian company, will soon construct two wind turbines in Nevada that will serve as demonstration units. These wind turbines are scheduled to be the tallest in the state of Iowa.
  • Nevada’s Schools and Hospital have drawn much of their electricity from wind turbines since 1993.
  • Story County Area currently has more than 120 wind turbines dotting the landscape of the area.

Distribution Centers require centralized locations, easy access sites and good four-lane highway access. A Nevada location provides:

  • Four-lane US Highway 30, running east and west through Nevada
  • Interstate 35 interchange, located just four miles west of Nevada West Industrial Park
  • Interstate 80, located 28 miles south of Nevada
  • Available sites of up to 100 acres in size
