WB Realty Announces Plans to Convert Hotel to Housing

(Nevada, IA) WB Realty of West Des Moines recently announced plans to convert the Budget Inn located in Nevada to 36 units of affordable rental housing in the community. The property has transferred ownership and conversion efforts are underway.

“We are grateful for the support we have received for our project from the City of Nevada and the Story County Housing Trust Fund,” says Ryan Wiederstein, owner of WB Realty. “Our plans are to have our studio apartments available for rent in September.”

In 2020, Story County commissioned a comprehensive housing study for all areas in Story County with the exception of Ames. The results of this survey indicated that Nevada would need an additional 206 units of rental housing by 2040 to meet the growing workforce needs of the community.

“The WB Realty apartment project will go a long way in assisting us in meeting our long-term rental housing needs in Nevada,” says Brett Barker, Mayor of Nevada. “We look forward to these housing units being available yet this fall.”
